Mexican startup airline Interjet will begin offering twice-a-week flights from the Northern city of Monterrey to Havana, Cuban media reported.

The Monterrey route, set to start Oct. 25, will be in addition to daily Havana flights from Mexico City.

Interjet, which started operations in 2006, will use A320 aircraft for 150 passengers on the twice-weekly flights, to be offered on Thursdays and Sundays.

Mexico is Cuba’s 9th-largest tourism source market; the number of Mexican visitors rose 5.5 percent during the first eight months of the year, according to official statistics. Although not legal under U.S. travel ban laws, flights from Monterrey may attract U.S. passengers from Texas.
