A conference scheduled for May 8 and 9, 2014 in Orlando will focus on Cuba’s economic reforms and the changing legal and business environment.
The keynote speech will be by Rep. Kathy Castor, a Tampa Democrat who is advocating closer relations with Cuba.
Cuba 2014: What the U.S. Legal and Business Communities Need to Know includes seven discussion panels, covering specific industries such as energy, mining and the environment, pharmaceutical and healthcare, small business in Cuba, as well as telecommunications and IT, and topics ranging from the Mariel Special Development Zone and intellectual property, to recent changes in U.S. policy, Cuba’s new economic policy and the impact of the Cuban diaspora. Invited panelists include Brookings Institution analyst Richard Feinberg, consultant Phil Peters, publisher and music entrepreneur Hugo Cancio, travel company owner Tessie Aral, and energy analyst Jorge Piñón.
The event, at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, is organized by Miami attorney Tony Zamora and sponsored by the Florida Bar International Section, as well as Cuba Media LLC (the owners of Cuba Standard and CubaNews).
